Inspired by Arthur Wooten's life, Dizzy is a unique read in that it marries two genres an exciting backstage show business tale coupled with a frightening medical drama.

Angie Styles, a beloved Broadway star, is struck down at the height of her career by a mysterious disease and is forced to reexamine her life and the people in it as she fights to survive.

“Dizzy is an entertaining and realistic portrayal of the unique challenges faced by people suffering from inner ear balance disorders. Mr. Wooten has captured the fear and frustration common among vestibular patients through his uplifting and often humorous story of Broadway actress, Angie Styles.”
– Veda, Vestibular Disorders Association

“Dizzy is a wonderfully told story with such great heart and humor.” – Peter Gregus, Broadway actor, writer, director, currently starring in Jersey Boys

“As a therapist, I believe books like Dizzy are important. They introduce complex medical concepts in story form, allowing the reader to learn, grow and enjoy the process. This fictional memoir will give you belly laughs, inspire compassion and enrich your life.” – Pamela Milam, MA, LPC

Dizzy A Fictional Memoir eBook Arthur Wooten

So the first thing that preoccupied me was the identification of the narrator. Mind you, this is a fictional memoir but it us so realistic, I kept having the feeling that I knew the dance, song, and acting star in question. And I think this quality reveals how nicely written the novel is. I was completely intrigued and read it at one sitting. Thank goodness for snow storms.

Angie has the tongue twisting bilateral vestibulopathy. This means the part of her ear that is assigned to determine position cannot do so. She is dizzy, falls, cannot taste, and cannot smell. These symptoms are afoot match for her previous signature move of a number of ballet spins in a row. I understand from the notes that the author has the same condition. As always, love learning something new.

The second thing is that her signature song, "Dizzy", is now stuck in my mind. This annoying outcome should not discourage you from reading the book. Angie is an entertaining and three dimensional character. Her friends are well drawn in the prose. The world of entertainment, is well, entertaining. We do have the requisite poke at the tabloids and the paparazzi, but what would a show biz book be without those? This book is cool beans, and it is perfect for a snowy day.

Dizzy A Fictional Memoir eBook Arthur Wooten Reviews

If you have ever had vertigo you may relate. If you have an ongoing balance issue this is a must read. Somehow seeing your experience in print, even in a fiction format, makes you feel understood and a little less crazy.
This is an easy read, and informative on inner ear problems. I did have to put the book down at one point, because it was so descriptive on the symptoms that I thought I was having them! Interesting story line that kept me reading!
I was surprised how quickly I got this in the mail, quick with no issues. Thank you ) Was a great read!
Yes, Great book to highlight Vestibular disorder which is a little known disorder Arthur himself suffers from. Also my Mother does so i got this book.... But ALSO its a great read set in the Broadway lights of current day NYC with fun characters. This is a great book to introduce your friend and family to the day to day struggles of those with Vestibular disorders. Thankyou Arthur!!
I really loved this book! It's witty and fast-paced, moving and uplifting. The life of Broadway star Angie Styles takes such a turn when she learns she has a debilitating affliction that threatens to ruin her career and change her life forever. But it's told with such humor and compassion, such understanding and honesty. Wooten pulled me in from the start and kept me totally engaged right to the end. Well done!
Dizzy, much like the song by Tommy Roe of the same name, keeps upping the ante and changing into a higher key as the story goes along. By the time you realize that something is terribly wrong with Angie you find yourself worrying right along with her, frightened by the changes washing over her with the dreaded feeling of lurking uncertainty mixed with a looming hope.

Vivid descriptions of Angie's past and present life intertwine for a Google earth view of a woman with remarkable humor and grace. A very entertaining and informative read. A little gem.
DIZZY is the fictional tale of charismatic, audacious but entirely human Broadway star, Angie Styles, and her back flip into a mysterious balance disorder. Inspired by the all too real-life experience of author, Arthur Wooten, we accompany Angie on a vivid and tumultuous whirlwind of a journey as her world takes a crazy somersault. Related with warmth, humor and the utmost poignancy, Arthur immediately enveloped me in Angie's odyssey, all the more compelling because I knew it mirrored his own! Beset with concern, trepidation, joy, suspense, laughter, and tears, I traversed a spectrum of emotions. This book isn't about illness; it's about a firecracker of a character who takes everything in her life by storm, the good, bad and ugly. DIZZY shares the consummate human tale of how lives change, hearts grow and friendships form as we persevere through adversity. Once you begin, you won't want to put this one down. Temporarily inseparable from my e-reader, I devoured DIZZY in all of two days! As I neared the conclusion of a journey that had truly become my own, my only consolation was the treasure trove Arthur Wooten has crafted. I can't wait to taste another of his treats!
